Mathimals is a collection of minigames with different difficulty levels to help your kids learn numbers and math. We are always developing new minigames. Follow us to get informed about new releases.

Below is an overview of each game with a brief description.

Mathimals Addition

Level: Two paw
Number range: 0 – 99

Solve the calculation that stands on the left side of the scale and put the correct solution on the other side.

The help you get on request depends on the height of the numbers. You can count the Mathimals up to 20. Calculations with higher numbers can be solved step by step with help on the green chalkboard.

Level: Two paw
Number range: 1 – 10

You have 3 balloons, but you need 5. How many do you need to blow up? Or you have 9 balloons, but you only need 3. How many do you need to pop? In this game you have to solve math exercises within a given time.

If you need help, you will be told how many balloons you need to add or remove.

Bigger Smaller

Level: Two paw
Number range: 1 – 20

Have a blast while mastering the art of comparison.

If necessary, you can have the size of the numbers visualized with blocks.

Mathimals Counting

Level: One paw
Number range: 0 – 20

On one side of the large scale above the lake are the Mathimals. Count them and then put the correct number on the other side of the scale. If you’ve counted correctly, you’ll be rewarded with a fantastic shower of confetti. Otherwise, the Mathimals and the cartoon numbers will go swimming. To help you do better next time, the Mathimals will show you what the correct solution would have been by surfacing again in order and counting themselves.

If you need help, you can click on the question mark and select the Mathimals individually to count along with them.

Subtraction

Counting is the very first step towards mathematics. A distinction is made between five stages. In the first stage – which starts at the age of about two and a half – the series of number words is only available as a whole and unstructured: “Onetwothreefour …” – the number words are repeated like a poem, the child does not yet know anything about the connection between counting and quantities.

At level two, the child can already clearly distinguish individual number words, but it is always necessary to start at one. At the age of three and a half to four years, this ability is developed to such an extent that the children can actually point to objects one after the other with their finger, using the number words for counting – usually up to a quantity between five and ten – in the correct order. It is completely normal that at this level an object is often still overlooked or the same object is counted twice. The important thing is that the child brings structure to its environment, and this gives it pleasure – also because of the sense of achievement.

At the third level, which is completed at the age of about five, the children know the basics of how counting, which they do all the time, works and what its purpose is: It is clear to the children that they have to start with the number one when counting and that the last number mentioned indicates the number of objects.

In the fourth stage – which usually begins at the age of six and extends into the school years – the child can not only count objects, but also numbers themselves. This enables the first simple additions: Two and two together are four. In the fifth stage, which begins during the school years, it is also possible to count backwards.

Mathimals supports learning at all levels in a playful way. The very small ones first learn how to deal with quantities. Later they learn to count and write numbers and for the older ones there are arithmetic exercises and fun games with numbers.

We ask you as a parent to make sure that your child plays the mini-games with an appropriate level of difficulty and number range, so that it is always challenged but never overtaxed. Over-challenging is counterproductive and will cause your child to lose its natural interest in numbers. Fun is the most important ingredient for successful learning.
